MHS GRIDIRON Meeting          November 5, 2008        Minutes

Present:  Dan Vaughan, Tony Pomella, Karen Macedo, Sean Steward, Bev Allen, Krisitn Gangi, Marsha Lynch, Bill Last, Jennifer DiGrigoli, Tom McHugh, Betty McKay, Kelly DeGust, Kevin Joyal, Lou Silva, Carol Upson

HOMECOMING

  1. Great turn out and good fundraising profits (36 attendees, 1953-2008.)
  2. $500 donation on behalf of the Bobby McDonald family (’88)
  3. Special thanks to Bill Last for donating shirts, Kate Costello for shed signs, Marsha Lynch and Kate Costello for senior shirt replicas for fence.

HOME GAMES REMAINING

  1. November 14 vs. Sandwich – SENIOR NIGHT roses given to moms by senior athletes (football players and cheerleaders prior to start of game.)  Kelly DeGust will organize the announcement for Bill Battis and will also coordinate flowers. 50/50 – need 6 volunteers, Kelly has 6 listed but will welcome any additional help
  2. November 27 vs. Duxbury – THANKSGIVING GAME 10:00 A.M. (see below)

THANKSGIVING GAME

  1. Snack Shed – Gridiron will be stocking and staffing snack bar for the game.  Limited menu, hotdogs, hot chocolate, candy, water, donuts.  Dan Vaughan to speak with Dockside Donuts and Kelly DeGust to speak with Coffee Shack to secure donated donuts for that morning.  Weather will determine menu.
  2. Staffing – will need 6 people in shed at all times and the following have committed their time:
    1. Bill & Barbara Last – whole game
    2. Mike & Betty McKay – whole game
    3. Kate Costello – whole game
    4. Kevin Joyal – all but ½ time
    5. Diane Bradley – available for any time needed
    6. ANYONE WHO CAN GIVE TIME PLEASE E-MAIL DAN VAUGHAN @ gorams@marshfieldgridiron.com
  3. Dan Vaughan will meet with Regina DaPrato to go over details of how the equipment in shed works.
  4. 50/50 raffle – Kelly DeGust and Kate Costello will work on volunteers for that game.  If you can give first ½ to selling raffles please e-mail Kelly DeGust at hakunamatata130@aol.com We need 6 people at least.
  5. Hot chocolate (weather dictating) for players after the game.  Lauri Nickerson will coordinate.
  6. GREEN BOWL – JV & FRESHMEN VS. DUXBURY 11/21  JV @ 4PM  FRESHMEN @ 6PM @ MHS seeking sponsors for WATD broadcast.  Jennifer DiGrigoli and Carol Upson to check youth football radio credit to help with cause.

PROGRAM UPDATE – Will cut cost to $2.00 for next two home games.

PASTA DINNERS

  1. November 13 is next MHS cafeteria pasta dinner.  Jennifer DiGrigoli will coordinate with Kevin Joyal.
  2. November 26 @ St. Anne’s Parish House is Thanksgiving pasta dinner and will be prepared by senior fathers and coordinated by Sean Steward (Ryan’s dad.)  Kristin Gangi offered to help with that coordination as well.  Parent will be at parish house by 3PM and Gridiron Club will provide food to be prepared.
  3. Players will be eating around 5:00PM.  Any parents may come around 6:00PM to pick up players and listen to captains speeches.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

  1. November Calendar – Given out, due back November 7, drawing will be on November 15.  Tony Pomella coordinating this effort.
  2. Stickers & T-shirts – Dan Vaughan is organizing the creation of a couple of car stickers for football and cheerleading as well as some sport specific t-shirts to be sold at Gridiron shed.  Prices to be $5 for stickers and $18-$20 for t-shirts.  Will be sold from Gridiron Shed at next two home games.
  3. RAMS CARDS – Coach Silva will re-institute Rams Cards sales for the 2009 season.  Has about 100 2008 cards that will be sold at next 2 home games.
  4. 2009 Season Fundraisers – Club will explore other ways to make money, i.e. doing our own program book, gridiron shed advertising, restaurant nights, so as to lessen the burden on players/parents for continual “selling.”

  2. Dan Vaughan has been putting scores, player of the week (nice job Tony and Coach Silva) and other notices on web site.  Please take a moment to visit it.  Will be enhancing and improving on a continual basis.  Would like to have advertising on web site as well.
